TEC- BOM, of Grupo Agrotecnología, new phytosanitary registration in Portugal

Grupo Agrotecnología, a leading company in the field of biostimulants, biopesticides, biofertilizers and a pioneer in the Zero Residue strategy, has obtained the authorization and phytosanitary registration of the natural insecticide, TEC-BOM, in Portugal. TEC-BOM has already received phytosanitary registration in Spain, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Cyprus. It is expected that next month it will be authorized by Greece and Italy and in 2019 by Morocco. This new phytosanitary registration increases the number of registrations obtained in 2018.
TEC-BOM is a natural insecticide based on an optimal selection of saponified vegetable oleins that achieves excellent and effective control over the greenhouse whiteflies, Bemisia tabaci and Trialeurodes vaporariorum, one of the most feared pests and which causes the greatest damage in tomato crops. TEC-BOM can dissolve the chitin or protective layer of the exoskeleton of the soft-shell insects, altering their cell membranes and causing their death by asphyxia and dehydration. In addition to its optimal results in managing resistances, it leaves no residues on the harvest, so it does not need a safety period. It has a cleaning effect on plant surfaces, dissolving the honey dew produced by different insects, thus decreasing the proliferation of fungi. Due to its ultra-low surface tension, it also acts to effectively enhance adherence of other treatments. It is applied, after the appearance of the pest, by foliar spray. All parts of the crop must be covered with a maximum of three applications at 5- to 7-day intervals. It is suitable for organic and integrated agriculture according to Regulation (EC) No.834 / 2007.
According to Enrique Riquelme, CEO of Grupo Agrotecnología, this new phytosanitary registration of TEC-BOM in Portugal, “Represents a new achievement, fruit of our trajectory, of effort and continuous work of the strong investment made in the biopesticides sector and, finally, thanks to our attitude and commitment to the environment and biodiversity by producing Zero Residue products.” This last record, Riquelme tells us, “Increases the list of registrations obtained to date to six (one in the United States, three in Mexico, one in Cyprus and this one in Portugal).” Today the CEO of the Teruel-based (Spain) company continues: “Our company has 13 registrations, although before the end of the year we will obtain three new authorizations for TEC-BOM in Greece and Italy and, in 2019, for Morocco. We foresee increasing this figure in the next few years thereby achieving the top position in terms of natural biopesticide registrations of the market.” Grupo Agrotecnología, concludes Riquelme, “Is immersed in a process of internationalization, in order to consolidate our presence in new markets with the aim of becoming a clear international benchmark.”
