ECOPEST, a new international R&D project developed by Grupo Agrotecnología

ECOPEST (naturally derived biopesticides) is an international research and development project carried out individually by GRUPO AGROTECNOLOGÍA S.L. with financing granted in part by FEDER funds (Smart Growth Operational Programme), and by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), under the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, in the context of Research and Development Projects (abbreviated PID in Spanish) that the center promotes (CDTI – EXP 00091631/IDI-20160629).
The general objective of this project is to undertake an investigation of physiological and biological processes of crops, orientated to the development of fungicide, bactericidal and insecticide-type products with the objective of combating aggressive pests that affect the most important crops in various countries of America such as Mildew, Powdery Mildew, Botritys, Xanthomonas spp, Mycosphaerella sp. as well as the families of insects: Curculionidae, Aphididae, Aleyrodidae and Tetranychidae.
We are attempting to formulate products to use as alternatives to traditional chemical ones that are based on various, naturally-derived substances (microorganisms, minerals or plant extracts) to expand the management options of plant diseases in several Latin American countries.
To develop these products, it is necessary to know in depth the biological cycles of the pests we are concerned with, as well as the characteristics of the crops they affect.
